Picked up a Focus Jam² ebike off one of my dirt bike buddies. Really opened up how much I am able to ride. I could do maybe 5 miles before on my analog Santa Cruz 5010 but now I can do 20 ish before I run out of battery (the Focus has a smaller battery than most other bikes and I'm a bigger guy)

Plus there are many more trail systems I can take this thing close by compared to my dirt bikes.

Cool, I think a e bike would be fun and I’m keeping a eye on them. Love the Santa Cruz 5010 as well such a fun ride !

Yup proflex 857. I split many elastomers that year. I believe i put many cracks in that frame at that race. Full suspension was kinda rare in XC those days. I would sucker fellow racers on hardtails into bad lines.

If I recall, pretty much every welded joint in that frame had a crack in it.

Ok, I'll play. I need to get back pedalling! I didn't even touch a bicycle last year.

Back in the day I used to rep for most brands you see here. The DH game was fun as fuck but I wasn't very good at it and sent a lot of time in hospital.:lol3

This was one bad ass machine!

Turners where sexy!

The gravel bike trend speaks to me the most, and I'm considering taking the plunge
Gravel bikes are neat just a good all round bike. Like road bikes used to be. I have 2001 Surly pacer that predates gravel bikes. It has clearance for up to 32c tires. I’ve riden it many thousands of km. Lots on gravel and dirt roads as well.

I was thinking about buying an older road bike and putting on a light gravel tire, so I could go down a well-worn trail. The larger tire would also, slow the skittish handing down, because of road geometry. I had a road bike years ago, and I immediately bent the rear rim and moved over to mountain bikes. The gravel tire will soak up potholes and curbs, and maybe I won't ruin a rim. My doctor suggests I have fibromyalgia, so my mountainbike days are over, but I really miss being on a bike. I've been on pinkbike.com daily looking for a good used one. I can't justify buying new.

Nice bike, I love steel bikes. I had a both road bike and a mountainbike that were steel, then made the mistake of buying an aluminum mountain hard tail. I could feel every bump in my neck, even with fat tire on the back.

Most road bikes even old ones won’t take a very big tire. That Surly is special for tire clearance. It’s kind of a anti fancy road bike bike. It has a sticker on the chain stay that says “fatties fit fine”. But still won’t fit tires as big as a modern gravel bike. Brake caliper clearance is a issue as well as frame clearance.

You might want to look into the city or hybrid flat bar bikes as well. They fit big tires and are made for comfort while still being efficient. Very good if you have a body that doesn’t fold over for drop bars anymore.
