My wife and I just returned from a 10 day road trip to Death Valley National Park. Spent 1 day camped in the Beatty area, riding BLM land outside the park, and 6 days camped at Texas Springs by Furnace Creek inside the park, riding some of the backcountry roads inside the park. Weather was unseasonably cold for this time of year, and a combination of snow in the higher elevations and flood damage on some of the trails kept us from doing some of our favorite rides in the park, but we had a great time.
Favorite ride of the week was Trail Canyon... this trail seriously kicked our butts, but we made it all the way to the end, and safely back out. What a blast! Basically it is 22 miles round trip of relentless baby-head rocks. You are riding in a wash at the bottom of a canyon, climbing the whole way in (the trail starts on the Westside Road at about -100 ft below sea level), it ends at about 4150 ft. Near the end of the trail there is a Y, with each leg leading to an abandoned ranch, four or five cabins at each ranch, with lots of interesting things to see inside.
