What's new

Honda CT125 or Trail 125 thread

I picked up my new CT on Saturday. I’ve put 130km on it just riding around the Island yesterday and today.
I put a collapsible crate on the rear rack, adjusted the kick start lever back on the shaft so I’m not hitting my heal on it, got rid of the sloppy adjustment in the throttle cable and put a coat of high heat gloss black on the exhaust heat shield.
I think that it’s a great modern take on my ‘77CT.

Does your Trail have the new updated engine? Is it a 2023?

Cycle Trader has listing showing 2023 model ships on May 15 from Honda. Unless the Trail is late like the XR150L...

She's contemplating the decisions she made in life that led her up to this point. Why did she marry me and follow me down some sandy ass road, mostly. We love the CT and have put a couple thousand miles on it.

I don't see why Honda can't offer it in more than one color per year. The Japanese manufacturers are really bad about this. The last non Japanese bike i bought was a Kymco and I had the choice of 4 colors. Then I bought a Kawasaki which had 2 color choices. My Honda.....only one color. Luckily I liked the color.

Honda is smart. What is it Henry Ford said, you can have it in any color as long as it's black

That might have worked back in the days of the Model T but how many Fords come in only black today?

OEMs take a risk with too many offerings in options and colors.

Offer one color, and you take it or leave it. Dealers dont have to gamble on poor color choice.

I'm in the aftermarket business and sell to dealerships and see this more often than not, Dealer orders 6 of each color Triumphs and sits on some oddball color offering.

Sure eventually he marks a 2021 or 2022 down in Cal Year 2024, and it sells.
It is a risk, even as much as consumers we want MORE choices.

When bike only comes in one ugly color a lot of buyers will leave it. I'm not saying every bike should come with 6 color options but only one is stupid. The Trail 125 has been in short supply and really has no direct competition so it hasn't hurt Honda but that could change in the future.
