I also recall a review by Barry Morris where he theorized that the lack of specific pulses of torque delivered by an ICE hurt an e-bikes ability to hook up the rear.

The electric motion bikes I have ridden had much better traction than my gas bike. We were doing tight turns on a steep hillside. The power pulses of the gas bike will break traction, it helps to slip the clutch on a gas bike to reduce how hard the power pulses hit.
 
I wonder if the skid plate design could cause problems on large logs or rocks where you slide over on the skid plate. Looks like you could get hung up since it's not as long as on gas bikes.
