Old School Cool

My grandson, Ryan with his project bike. 1980 XL80S. Awesome grandpa/grandson project.

Before shot. Making one good one out of two bad ones. (barely)

Good stuff Grandpa! Very happy for you. I'm afraid I'll never experience the joy of working with a grandchild on a project like that, my only child (daughter) will probably never have kids. I did, however, enjoy something very similar but from the opposite perspective - my father and I did a ton of bike projects together from the time I was a teenager to well into my 30s.

1985 FJ600 purchased new in 1986. Never restored, stock except for mirrors, fork springs and K&N air filter. The decals on the fork legs disguise clearcoat damage from an overzealous safety inspector who should never have been issued a razor blade.

Super! :thumb

1981 gs750 was my 1st bike. And those beautiful chrome covers with the two phillip screws made for nice burns. I could only imagine a modern repop of that engine.

Also owned one of these for 4 or 5 year in the late nineties /early noughties , a grey import Japanese market only Suzuki GSX400SSN Katana. Water cooled but made to look like an aircooled engine. Not massively fast but it would run rings around my 1100 Katana on country roads
