My Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 has been a lot of fun, and very reliable (a pleasant surprise). I adventurized it a bit, but it can still be lean and mean for track days. It helps having a second set of wheels. I found a set from a Shiver (similar bike) on eBay for a great price. Painted them gold, and mounted track rubber.

NICE!

I could never get adjusted to the 180 section rear tire when off pavement on my dorso and then I traded it for a 950se, problem solved.

Yup. Off pavement, my wife leaves me in the dust on her DR350. I'm thinking of getting a KTM 500 or CRF450 with 2 sets of wheels. I'm tempted to look for an Aprilia SVX 550, but I'm not keen on the intensive maintenance.

What was crazy is riding the dorso back to back with the se on the street, they were nearly identical!

Perhaps a narrower than the 5.5 rim would help the dorso off pavement?

Possibly. Mine actually has a 6 inch wheel.

I got to borrow a KTM 950 SM for a day, and that was really similar, with a few extra horsepower.

I also think the Dorsoduro feels a belike a 2/3 scale 1150GS. Not too different from an 850GS.

OK guys, my first post here.
I know the forum is adventure bikes, and to me, these bikes will guarantee an adventure when used as intended.
The RSV4 only has 30 miles on it sadly....bought it as a Christmas present to myself...and it's winter here.
Hope you don't mind two strokes too much....I'm addicted to them.

I'm posting here under protest...

I was seduced by the Ohlins suspension and the forged aluminum wheels. The idea was to tape up the lights and use it as a cheap track bike. Before I got it home I had ordered track bodywork, spare gas tanks, etc... so much for cheap. After dumping a bunch of time and money into it I sold it. Never bonded with it.

Having not learned my lesson and thinking I'd be Joe Roadtrip after I retired, I bought this in 2020. In two years I put a whopping 2600 miles on it. It's for sale.

Oh crap, how did that last one get in there? Imagine my embarrassment. SO sorry... if I could only figure out how to delete it... oh bother, what have I done...
