Exploring near home today on the little bike. I had to cut some alder’s along a old overgrown road, to reach the beach.

I got together today with some of the Usual Suspects for a street ride in Lower Middle Tennessee.

Meeting up In Ardmore, Alabama right on the Alabama/Tennessee line.

There were 6 of us.

We rode twisty back roads which have very little traffic in this area.

Bambi and baby ran down the road in front of me for a bit.

We took a break at a scenic spot.

We ate Lunch in Petersburg then rode to Lynchburg to let an oncoming thunderstorm pass by. The thunderstorm fizzled out and just produced some sprinkles. We continued our ride.

We stopped at the Mexican Ice Cream place in Fayetteville.

It was great getting out for a ride and spending time with friends.

Spent a few days riding with a friend and his son. This was his son's first adventure riding. He'd passed his MSF class, and our couple of days riding doubled the mileage on his new to him CRF250 Rally.

They had trailered up from near Denver, but I had to ride across the big heat. from the left coast.

We made 3 Step Hideaway our basecamp. If you have not ventured out that way, you owe it to yourself to stop by. Scott and Julie are great people and have an amazing place.

You won't be bothered by much noise other than your own snoring.

This trip was originally planned as a week or so of riding from the base camp. And for a bit more than a month before we got it going.
All that meant it was going to be hot everywhere the sun reaches.

Rode to lunch a couple days ago with my partner, her parents, and my mom. It was nice to have an opportunity to ride in an otherwise busy schedule. Lunch specials made the meal cost only about $82 before tip.

On the flip side, the 3 square inches of my front wheel that were touching the yellow line (not shown) here cost me $36 to the municipal court.

Win some, lose some.

Here's some pic's from a ride I did last month around the Mena-Ouachita National Forest-Wolfpen Gap area of Arkansas, including the remains of an abandoned fire tower.

9/09/2023: I went to my grandson's football game in Pawnee, Oklahoma. I took my bike and after the game, I rode around the area for a couple hours exploring.

In downtown Pawnee.

It was mid 50s, windy and gloomy yesterday but I went for a ride with a friend anyway. It was anything super exciting but we hit a few really fun roads and I ended up riding around 180 miles. Since it had been 2 weeks since my last day ride longer than short rides around town it was much needed therapy. I don't see how those riders up North who put their bikes away for the winter survive. :dunno I didn't take many pics but here's a few:

That sounds about like the best weather I'm gonna see for a while to come. I haven't put my bike up for the winter just yet though, I keep telling myself that I'll get out for one more ride on a nice day.
We've had a few sunny in the 50s but something always comes up and my bike just sits. It's been mostly in the 40s daytime and high 20s at night, a couple of strong, windy rain storms so far and another tomorrow, 2" of rain and wind gusts up to 48mph. Not at all what you'd expect 2 miles south of the New Hampshire border, about 20 miles from the coast but I'll take it, roads are clean and you don't have to shovel rain.
