What's new

Rate the city/area you live from a riding perspective.

"Tidewater" VA... Otherwise known as Norfolk, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Hampton, and Newport News...

I decided to leave my Ducati with my parents in NM because there was nothing worth riding it on in the local area. Congested slabs with crazy second hand Mercedes and BMW cagers. No thanks.

The 1200GS is good for the commute to and from work.

And Tidewater is close enough to the Appalachian mountains to make longer trips on my KTM 690 Enduro to find dirt feasible.
Go south, young man. Ride through Virginia Beach to Pungo, keep on to Knotts Iskand and take the Currituck ferry across. From there you can loop back north homeward via hwy, or venture souther moreso to investigate tNorth Carolina Outer Banks. All pavement but a variety of such and spectacular views.

Southern New England..
What kind of riding do you like?? We have it. City, slab, twisties, gravel, single track, track and trail. And its Good, If it was a year round thing it would be great. The biggest problem riding here is that you need a herd of bikes to enjoy it all and a place to store them in the winter months.
Riding is not weather dependent here for the most part and you get to liking riding in the elements,It is almost a sport to itself. Until Jan, Feb, March when Ice , road-sand and snowfall make it too dangerous to be out with the cars.
So, riding season..(9 months+-) 10/10
Winter .. (3 months). 0/10
Adjusted Rating. .. 7.5/10

South Central PA here. 10/10. 5min and I'm on the MABDR. 15 min to groceries and gas. I can ride for a day or more and barely hit any asphalt, and there isn't a straight 2 lane road anywhere. Oh, and mountains, did I mention the mountains. Probably half a dozen state forests within a couple hour ride on pavement, longer if you stick to gravel. Its almost perfect! Except for the Amish Buggy horses' exhaust that you can find laying on the road in the middle of a corner. And the fact that you need heated gear when the temps drop below freezing. All the pics are within 45 min of home.

Wait... I mean it sucks, really awful. Don't come here!
