The Official VTOL Threadfest / Helicoters & Tiltrotors

Those missions include not just search and rescue, but frequent medevac flights and on-call support for other NSB departments as required; anything from transporting electrical technicians to restore power supplies, to dropping off and picking up engineers to work on the town-supply gas line, transporting scientists or dropping seismic torpedoes on the sea ice.

The 412's they also use do not have the range they need for more remote missions.

Are any of those certified?

Edit: With all the mod's post deletions this question lost context.

I’m not fond of those loud to many moving parts machines, having had to work underneath one in SW Virginia setting 80’ to 100’ poles, not a pleasant experience, especially when the pilot informed us that if his fuel got to a certain level we had 15 seconds to run as fast as we could because he was cutting the load loose, nice fellow, of course these sites where all on the side of a steep hill.
the whirlybird looked something like this old jalopy.

Winnebago made some of those into ‘campers’ years ago.
