Yes, I always ran No Toil. I also spent a lot of time on the throttle stop. After each top end, I noticed a significant boost in power, it was like a different bike. The rings were always fine, it was the piston skirts that wore out. The motor would get real noisy from the piston flopping around.
That's a familiar sound. I remember riding a D4 Enduro in 2015 on my TE125 and the grass track ran into the wood in a section. I was still a few turns back, and could see the bikes slowing down as they entered the woods. I knew there was a hill climb in there, and there was a bottleneck forming. I knew if I got in that line, and had to make a run from the bottom.... it wasn't going to go well. I hated being that guy, but I just clicked down a couple of gears, rode right past the waiting riders, and went for it. I had to use the tires of a downed bike for traction, but I made it!
