Picked up another vintage bike. I would say it’s the exact opposite of my Jumbo

I pulled the Ol Bul out last week for a vintage event that didn’t happen and since it hadn’t been run in a few years figured I should have a look at it before putting some fuel in the leaky tank. Well good thing I had a look at the air filter because someone had been using the area under the seat for storage….:dirtdog

No damage to the filter luckily, guess they didn’t like the taste of BellRay?

I was on a week long dual sport trip, one night I camped where there were a bunch of oak trees that were shedding acorns. When I got back from the trip, I found my airbox half full of acorns. Some mouse spent all night loading them into there. I don’t understand how they found it so quickly and got them in there. They would have had to get under the seat of the bike and then through the intake of the airbox. It was a pretty convoluted path.

Results from the Mountain West Vintage Trials Association event this past weekend at Sipapu Ski Valley, New Mexico. Nabbed a win on Saturday, fell apart on Sunday. Oh well. :lol3

Where are all the TY80 riders? I think the last vintage event I did with your guys, there were 9 TY80s, it sounded like a swarm of angry bees.

New bits for the TY80. They were supposed to be here before the Mosteller Cup, but decided to spend weeks being delivered and showed up the weekend of the event. :hair No matter, they're here now.

Yup, these front wheel bearing are JUNK!!

Front brake shoes worn down to the plates as well -

Let's get to it. "Mosteller-proofed" the new bearings by packing 'em full of waterproof grease -

Slotted the new zapatas to aid water drainage -

And "ported" the drain on the brake mounting plate to speed up drainage as well. If you've ever ridden Mosteller, you'll get it...

Ready for the Mosteller Cup!! Next year. :bluduh In the meantime, we'll be at the Mountain West Vintage Trials Association's season ender September 24th and 25th. See all you kiddies there! :D

Yup, Pingel party time again!! :D

Wait, that's not the "Works" Fantic!!

You're right it's not. 2 things: 1) The "Survivor" Fantic will be ridden in a week at the Mountain West Vintage season ender at Haytack and it's petcock was seeping, and 2) full disclosure, I can't say that I'm totally in love with the "Works" Fantic these days. I'll either get over it, or ship it. But in the meantime, let's get busy. Slotted (poorly) the plate's mounting holes -

And had to do a bit of trimming to make the larger Pingel play nice with the cylinder head. I went with a finned Pingel for fun since it was going on an air-cooled scoot.

The OE one was much thinner. And leakier. :lol3

Back together, fuel-tight and runs just fine. New fuel line, spark plug, and air filter service. A wash and a chain service and it's ready to fight another day! :-)
