Weekend Warrior Racing!

Raced the Red Canyon Enduro on 1/30/2022 in Fluvanna, Texas. A40+ I had a horrible ride. 8th in class, 116th overall out of 425.

Got bumped to B about 2 years ago, running 30+ class. Usually in the bottom end of the class though. Kind of took the fun out of it for me when I was at best a 5th-10th guy in C class. But I accumulated enough points to get moved up by the AMA so here we are...

Some Enduro maybe 2 years back, can't recall where

My son just called, after selling his 2018 YZ250F (see photo at left) in what he described as "A dumb-ass moment" six months ago he's bamboozled a buddy into riding his bike this weekend.....I give him 30 days before he has another scooter in the garage..

It was hero dirt. I was on row 42. I run as many setra, serma, and Sprint Enduro rounds as I can afford. I'm C40+ and have only ever seen one podium...no one showed up at that round.
I need to do this venue someday.
The NETRA Snow Run is also on the bucket list.

Is it still a thing?

Oh yeah the NETRA Snow Run is alive and well. It gets cancelled sometimes...snow to deep or no snow at all. But most say this year conditions were perfect with a 2 inch crunchy layer of snow on all but the last section. Last section was deeper and more technical, tighter trail with some off camber sections.

Did this enduro in 2007 - 2009 fun stuff!

Getting myself and bike ready for a double header race weekend on the 12/13th of March.

Saturday morning in El Paso, Texas.

Should be done and loaded before noon and then hit the road for the 11 hour drive to OKC.

Sunday morning in OKC, OK.

Will be a short night of sleep with coming from mountain time to central time and then losing an hour with the daylight savings change overnight. But what the heck, the OKC race is right on my way home so I might as well pull out some BDE and do miles of pre-running Friday afternoon, a 111+ mile race Saturday morning and then another 60ish mile race Sunday.

I'm anxious for the STORR race, really enjoyed the night round there last September. I was boringly cruising at 70+mph in a few spots on the GPS each lap and this race is during the day so it will be neat to see how fast the YZ250FX really can go.

Ain't here for a long time, just a good time. I'll be one of the first riders out at the STORR race and on row 20 at OKC. Maybe see some of ya'll at one of the events.

For some reason I never seem to get great candid shots of myself at races unless I have someone specifically looking at me. Here's a few from last year.

Totally different but just as much fun (and easier on the old body after being beaten badly by heavy 4 stroke Hondas decades ago). First time out to the drag strip for me after decades away, Showtime Dragstrip 1/8 mile in St. Pete FL test and tune. Horrible traction in part because of period-correct Dunlop K70 rear tire, bad reaction times and 60 foot times due to me being rusty and poor traction, but still a crapload of fun. First time out for the bike as well. Poor old vintage 2 valve DOHC 450 got soundly beaten by a 2006 Ninja 650 and a good rider in a heads-up matchup.

Racing is starting up around here. First hare scramble was supposed to be 2 weeks ago in VA but weather had it postponed. So ran a new to me series last weekend, Mountain State HS. Bikes race on Saturdays which was a nice change of pace. They are a smaller series so they combine A and B classes together, plus the C guys in the back. Hell my line was a combo of 30+ A/B and 40+ A/B..

Rode like crap and finished 9th of 10 in combined A/B 30+. The VA series I normally run typically has about 30 guys in each class at the opener for perspective.

Oh well, first top 10 in B for me :lol3

I did the white rock back in the 90’s when they had a two day qualifier

I did that 2 day qualifier as well. In the youth classes.

Now I'm "Senior".

40 doesn't feel senior, damn rule book and classes trying to hurt my feelings. :lol3
