What Was Your First Street Bike?

In 1972, at age 17, I purchased a brand new R75/5 toaster with Avon fairing and Wixom bags and trunk. I had a dozen or so bikes before that but didn't purchase them on my own.

First street bike was a 1974 Honda CL 360.

First bike: Honda CM400. Paid $400 for it. Cleaned it up, adjusted the chain, added shock oil. Traded it in for $1000 on a Yamaha Maxim 750. Guy I bought it from found out and tried to tell me I owed him some of the money I got in trade. I have NO idea why he thought he was entitled to it. I guess he was just pissed he hadn't thought of fixing it up.

My Yamah DT 175 never was plated but later I traded my Gremlin X for the Yamaha XS750 road it for a year and then sold it and joined the Army for 20 years.

1st bike and streetbike at 16yrs old- GS750L. Taught miself in the backyard and hit the street 5mins later. Two miles later I twisted the grip to the stops in 1st gear and scarred myself pretty good. Never looked back.

Mine was a 1967 Honda CB160. My dad found it in a garage sale for $300, and gave it to me for HS graduation. mom was an ER nurse at that time. It did not go over well. Had they not already been divorced 10 years, it probably would have happened that day. :lol3

I rescued the bike from my uncle's garage, where it was kept less than ideally. It now sits in mine, awaiting restoration.

The mighty Gilera 106! Ridden all thru high school and replaced with Honda CL-175. Sorely missed and would love to be able to afford another one...this bike precipitated more um, "horizontal romantic encounters" than anything I have owned since. Classic Italian design :thumb

1971 Suzuki 500. Vibrated so bad shift lever would fall off in traffic. Everything is fun when you're 16

My 1st bike and what I taught myself to ride was a gs750L. Dirtbikes came 2nd. Next bike was an it400. Ha trial by fire. Thankfully bmx was my life before motorcycles. Took 16yrs to finally get tossed. I was in my 30yrs by then and 12 bikes later. The gs750l rocked. I got pulled at 5th gear wide open tank slappin madness and got an expired permit ticket. 60 bucks for racing an undercover foxbody. Good ole freaking days. I feel blessed.
