What's new

Your origins?

No actual pictures but here we go;

Bike #0.5 - Garelli Tiger Cross - why .5? Well when I bought it it ran but by the time I got it home it didn't and never really did again. I was 15 & did a sort of restoration but the intricacies of that highly complex 2 stroke motor were beyond me.

Bike #1 - Honda CB125 - bought from a sketchy used dealer on Chelsea High Street for £150 and ridden home in 80's era London rush hour traffic, no license or experience of course but I was 17 and invincible. Signed up at Apollo Messenger to be a courier (despatch rider in the UK) and killed it in about the 1st 8 months of riding deliveries all over Greater London.

After that it was a Suzuki 250 (1st new bike) and the rest is history as they say...

Ok, I posted before but here is the true origin of my motorcycle madness. My older brother bought this BSA Golden Flash when they were in High School circa 1964. It has been an addiction (affliction?) ever since! My brother Wayne, who passed in 1998 is giving yours truly a ride. The Marine Corps cover and OD's were compliments of my oldest brother Russell who had just returned from boot camp at Parris Island.

Parris Island is actually my origin. I was born in the naval hospital that serves PI and grew up Navy there.

That's Parris Island MCRD across the river taken from St. Helena Island on a warm Christmas Eve ride around my old haunts in 2016.

Has to be Kodachrome? Stunning picture.

My little brother was born in 1964 that's him on the front of the mini bike, I remember wearing those glasses because of the bugs. the IT175's pictured was early 80's. Its a wonder we are still alive from all the crazy riding we've done the last 50+ years. BUT I wouldn't change it if I could! HE says he was passing me & I say I was pulling away from him, you be the judge. LOL

1986 Breaking in the new VFR at 19 yrs old in Washington state a couple of months before shipping out to AF Basic Training. The following year on a new GSX-R 750 on Harris Grade in CA which was such a great canyon road to play on. Got to experience all that was the sportbike revolution from the mid 80's. Had a couple of 500 Interceptors before the VFR, amazing times for sure.

First streetbike was a 1982 Honda XL-100s at 16. Then moved up to a 1975 Honda CB360t before getting smitten with all of the sportbikes that were coming out. In WA each time you got a bigger bike, you had to re-test for a new endorsement. I tested 4 times before getting my unlimited cc's on my license. Couldn't believe when I got to CA that you could test on a scooter and then go get a big bike no problem.

First bike was an XR75 back about 1974 or so. It was pretty beat when dad bought it for me but I learned a lot keeping it running, probably part of his plan. I saved every penny I could get my hands on and bought a brand new DT125 in '79, I think I was 12 years old; I remember I could barely touch the ground but no way I was only getting a 100... A lot of bikes have come and gone over the years but that DT had a special place in my heart. I was at a vintage mc show a few weeks ago and saw this survivor DT175, the owner was a younger guy who's dad had the same bike in South America growing up. We had a nice chat about it and he let me sit on it... ❤️

Born in 1990.
I got hooked off an ‘81 Suzuki GS650L in 2014 my brother found in a neighbours barn.
Spent close to 100 hours fixing it up, then rode it once and gave it to another friend. But I was hooked. And wanted a dualsport. Bought a WR250R in 2015 and never looked back. Ended up on proper dirtbikes in 2016 and been a certified addict since then.

Is Rick evans allowed in this thread?

Ok. I have one more photo to contribute. I can't believe this picture survived all these years. This was my first real motorcycle, a 1968 YamahaTrailmaster 100. This was spring 1971. My dad passed away that July.
