That's my first question for new riders - can you haul ass on a bicycle, maneuver and control it 100% in or out of traffic and obstacles?

If not, then practice.

Exactly.....so nerve racking to watch someone in their 40s think they can learn on a big bike. Then when asked have not rode a bicycle in 30 yrs. No stick shift car and lack even riding mower experience.

I always think go play in a wide open grass field on a xr100 for a few weeks before you get hurt.
