Royal Enfield has unveiled their first "flex fuel" motorcycle, a 2025 Classic 350. It will take fuel containing 25% ethanol as per new Indian government law. Not sure that's the way to go...

It will be interesting to see how this works out. If it runs as well as the regular version and doesn't cost more then great.

As for selling 25% ethanol fuel I'm nor sure what the point is. It takes nearly a gallon of oil to make a gallon of ethanol. Does India have that much of a surplus of corn?

May be lower emissions? But like you said, the production of ethanol would void any real progress.

""Ethanol is made from biomass . Most of the fuel ethanol produced around the world is made by fermenting the sugar in the starches of grains such as corn, sorghum, and barley, and the sugar in sugar cane and sugar beets. Denaturants are added to ethanol to make fuel ethanol undrinkable.7 Āpe 2022""

Here in New Zealand most / all of our ethanol comes from the Dairy industry

"We produce high-quality ethanol from whey, a natural by-product of pure grass-fed New Zealand milk. Traditionally, ethanol is manufactured using molasses, cane sugar or grain as the raw material. Our operation is one of the few in the world where casein whey is the feedstock for ethanol production."

Now how many gallons of oil it takes to get the raw material to produce the casein whey.
