+ Week Texas in the Spring

Left my home in the Rockies west of Denver on Friday and headed south.
22F as I climbed onto the bike with the wife. Got u[p to 40F as we rode through Denver. Still pretty chilly.
The plan was to just blast downI-25 as fast as possible to our first nights destination; Raton, New Mexico.

I didn;'t take squat for pics as it was too cold to get the camera out and there was really not a lot to see anyway, Made it to Raton where it was a balmy 49F...

Up and outta bed early on Saturday with our destination being Amarillo, texas. Meeting up with my buddy Dave and his wife Debbie there. Debbie wants to see palo Duro State Park while there.
I just wanna eat at the Big Texan ....

The ride to Amarillo was again in 45F, cloudy skies and tons of wind. Not ideal riding conditions but not too bad either.
At least we were out of Colorado - my neighbor sent me a pic taken about 4 hours after we left - really

dodged a bullet....

Near Palo Duro Canyon on the return leg of a trip to Houston then to Fredericksburg to see Sis.

Rode through Palo Duro yesterday, Dunno if I'm buying the "Second biggest canyon in the USA" claim though. It was kinda lackluster at best.
Maybe if we hiked around a bit more it'd be better......

Headed south today - once it warms up - to Marathon. Hoping to find some warmth and less cold winds.
Still, beats being back home - they expect about 16" of snow tomorrow / Wednesday.

I've considered visiting Palo Duro Canyon. I'm not sure I'll bother now. Grand Canyon and Big Bend put it to shame.

Will you be hiking at all in Big Bend?

ZoomerP - no, no hiking this time. Just riding through. Kind of a recon trip for future trips.

Left Amarillo in cold again - 38F when we left. Didn't see warmth or sun until about 1:00 when it suddenly jumped to 75F and some Sun. Felt great as we arrived at our hotel

in Marathon ...
