What's new

Took the Harley out for its first little ride. First impressions.

I have a few harleys and sold a few over the years. I also worked at a dealer in 2007. I rode every model for that year multiple times. From cvo to shrine bikes. Also stock and open pipes. Not one of the 300 bikes I signed off on liked low rpm. 2800-3200 rpm is the happy spot. Some of the bikes would lug down better than others, but ideal rpm is higher than most would think. My neighbor made the same remark when he bought his 2nd touring bike. The carb models were easier to tune for smooth low rpm running and the ironhead and shovel models did well. But efi models had midrange cams. My 2022 klr is the same way. The motor can be lugged but definitely not ideal. Efi and torque cams! I think the powertrain engineers dont want the engine lugged due to other driveline abuse. Spin to win.
