Came across a pic of an old tow rig of mine.

1976 CJ-7. Clutch went out , so i scrapped the 304 and installed 1968 396 ci chevy with built T350, Trans go STG1, Advanced Adapter to a the T20 T-Case.
ISKY split overlap cam, RV/towing profile 272 dur IIRC.

Blew out the stock AMC axle the next weekend, and I made a Dana 44 Rear out of an International Scout fit

2" RC lift, 33"x12.50" tires

Yes, It towed like a Big Block. Point and shoot.

I put in a 20+ gal steel tank, and it got 9 or 10 mpg with a trailer or not.

Kinda wish I still had my old CJ and J10, J20 trucks.

But these modern Diesel Rigs tow like no bodies business, and in comfort too

If anyone has a lifted, or levelled truck, you know that shoving a bike up a ramp can suck. My yz250f, I have to get the front end up on the flatdeck, grab the subframe and heave it forward from there.

Or, I used to have to. Princess auto (Canuck Harbour Freight) had these cranes on for a good price, while the wife was out of town. My deck has a 2" receiver in each corner, so I can drop it wherever it's needed. This picture shows the optional voice activated feature. This feature works best when well fed and rested, and occasionally quits working to explain a particularly complicated Scooby-Doo plot, but overall, I expect it to improve over the next few years.

Jokes aside, this thing is great. I can sling either of our bikes up and onto the deck, regardless of where the truck is parked and on what sort of slope or terrain. I'm going to add an ATV winch in place of the boat winch, and charge a dedicated battery for it, from the camper plug wiring that used to poke through the front corner of the box.

Lightweight jib frames can be very useful.

If you don't want to bother with wiring, you can run that little winch off of a good lead-acid jump pack for days. I've been running a 9500 lb winch on a car hauler off of a Clore JNC660 for years. It works so well that I decided it wasn't worth the money to run copper.

crap. so now I gotta add a winch to my truck crane, and buy a battery pack

I've already got the wiring, and the battery...and the winch, I think. Just gotta grab a female side 7 pin connector and a battery box.
Good call on the jump pack though, never thought of that!

what do you guys think of the current F150 ? We’re going to get these next year in Australia with the 3.5 Ecoboost and 10 sp auto. Dealer told me expect around the $110 - $120 k mark for the Lariat.
Currently towing with our 2010 Ford Territory Ghia, will find some pics and put them up.
Picked up the F150 in the spring, does ok dragging around the 21' toyhauler

v-6 Jeep does not stand a chance with the all steel trailer, 12,000# rated

But, it is good enough to move the trailer about the property....

No wonder the stereo stopped working. :photog

on the plus side, Jeep installed a new head unit about 3 weeks ago, mind you this was post warranty at 3 1/2 years.

I drove the wifes jeep today , and the XM was not working.

one phone call the they transfered the membership to the new Jeep Head unit w/ new SN.
