How are you guys holding up? I heard you got quite the snow fall.

I spent a week outside Watersmeet last summer. Had a great time solo on some of the trails. Thinking about passing through the UP again this june/July time frame on my drive back west from visiting the family in Pennsylvania. Wouldn't mind finding a soul or two to join in as tour guides.

Down here that kind of snow causes some problems.

"Dec. 1-2, 1974, 19.2 inches, 27 dead, including 22 from heart attacks from shoveling. Waterford Township postmaster Gary DeVar who owned a four-wheel-drive vehicle responded to media pleas and took a Clarkston woman to receive kidney dialysis. He waited until after her treatment and then took her home.

In contrast, Dearborn police refused a call from a man who wanted them to put snow tires on his car for him. However, they did assist a man whose vehicle had ran out of gas and he had suffered frostbite. They took him to hospital for assistance.

Schools closed to the delight of children and Pontiac Motors, Fisher Body and General Motors Truck & Coach closed due to lack of workers. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies used snowmobiles to deliver three women in labor to their hospitals."

Unfortunately, conditions are currently more like this!

Actually, it would be nice if we had that little snow. These pic's are from a spring or two ago. The road in front of my house is still a skating rink!!!

I'm sorta interested in the time frame as well. Think I could swing up that way while heading towards Idaho.

Snowmobile trails open until 3/31. Snow in the woods for some weeks after that. It all depends on the weather, it can snow up here in May...

I would wait until the end of April / May. Will be wet in the spring of course. Here is a photo from the first week in April last spring.

Thanks! That looks like some tricky conditions.

I went up in October for LSPR. I never even met up with my friends or saw any racing, I couldn't stop riding the trails. :-)

Are you riding from NM to ID? Hopefully some day I will be able to call a ~2,800 mile detour a 'swing up'. :-)

Nope. My days of traveling off the bike are pretty much over. I went full-time rv life a few years ago and since did a cargo trailer conversion. The big trailer hasn't moved from NM since. All my traveling is out of the 16' cargo and loving the social distancing life style. Lol plus the cost savings really helps being on a limited budget.
