What's new

- Week DJ_MI's Nightly Rides. I'm going to Detroit; wish me luck!

Ya..the rims are hollow and eventually will flake. My rear rim went first. The duct tape is to protect the tube

I considered getting a different bike a few times but the longer I have this bike the less likely I am to ever sell it. I've overly sentimental so the more history we have together the less I'm willing to part with it. I bought it to ride though so if it gets some bumps and bruises along the way that's okay. 👍
For the kind of riding you do it would be hard to find a better bike. The only bike I would replace my KLX250 with is a KLX300 but right now it's not not worth the money to upgrade for me. I'll replace my KLX when I wear it out.

I don't get why dual sport rims cost more than mx bikes. Only after market klr wheels are available.

The salt water enters through the nipple hole and stays in the hollow section forever.

100% agree! I got really lucky with the KLX. In '21 bikes were hard to find and especially hard to find without getting robbed. Combined with the fact that I had zero experience with dual sports to base my buying decision on. I couldn't be happier with the KLX, it has taken me on so many adventures and brought me much happiness. ❤️

I just need to put the 250X back together and get a “toaster” of some sort and I’ll be content.
250x?

I haven't looked. That does seem strange.

Fluid Film should creep through the same gaps. A squirt of it through a rim lock hole into the cavity might be a good idea for crazy people that enjoy riding through the salty slums of Detroit.
Price out a Xt225 wheel! I can get set of wheels for a yz for less than a rear xt wheel. And every used xt and even ttr wheel has been bought in the country. Unobtanium!

Yes fluid film or corrosion x would work but really needs to be applied day one on a very hot dry day. A layer of grease around the nipple might work

There is a sea way trail. I am not sure of west of Mentor..but east after is epic till Buffalo. I once rode though the trail went all the way around lake Erie. Presque Island was awesome. Really a 7 mile peninsula that I caught at 0700..soggy...and I could see at least 30 miles of glass..on Erie! The wakeborder turned wakeskater in me.....

Bike 1989 her 883 sporty with stock box open drag pipes with a just welded "passenger rest" yr 2011.

Yall northerners bring back some of my most epic riding ever.

The sea way trail is a bicycle route around Erie.

Another 1989 sporty adv was putin Bay. Haha...the north rocks and ironically at least 4- 10 times as many motorcycles...cabin fever is no joke!!

I don't think he lives in Romeo anymore or even in MI.

The house he grew up in was for sale a while back.

Kid Rock had a house on the river in Detroit but he sold it a few years ago. It was a few doors down from the Mayor's Residence known as the Manoogian Mansion. It was at the Manoogian Mansion where the alleged party by Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick took place where a stripper named Tamara Greene was allegedly assaulted by Kwame's wife who arrived unexpectedly. Tamara Greene was murdered in her car near Roselawn and West Outer Drive (just north of 7 Mile but on the west side) in Detroit less than a year later.
Nice houses. I remember watching a documentary on his childhood. He stated he mowed his parent's lawn with a push mower. It took an entire weekend to complete the task. My grass allergies were kicking up looking at the pics of all that grass.

Maybe you should ride around Detroit painted as a Juggalo. Strap some Faygo on the back of your seat and pour it on some people. Take pics of Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J's houses while you're at it. Maybe go see Eminem and demand the real Slim Shady please stand up.

You should have seen the "Man Cave" at my uncle's house in AZ a week ago when the 49ers were playing. They showed just how fickle they are as 9ers fans when they were ready to throw in the towel on the game. I was only into watching a good game.

I can't watch the end of the game...

So I'll post a few more pics from earlier.

When I was trying to find my parking spot earlier I stopped at the guard shack to ask for directions:

It looks like someone abandoned their post:

At least I determined where not to park:

Days of yester-decade and exploration would dictate there is an old porno movie in that VCR.

Here's a few pics from the ride over:

From a distance I wasn't sure that I was seeing this sign correctly but when I got closer I realized that I wasn't seeing things...

P-p-p-p-poison!

That's because you're not a wimp like me. :D

I’ve made pretty good progress with my cold weather gear. At this point my hands are still the weak link.
Get some thick cold weather riding gloves from Cycle Gear, RevZilla, or some other gear store. The ones I've been using for a couple months now work like a charm. None of my gear is that heated bullshit.

:lol2 Whenever anyone says "poison" I have to say "p-p-p-poison" or else it's 7 years bad luck.

I've looked into better gloves but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I got some heated gloves "free" (Uline freebie) I've only used them once. They are pretty bulky and definitely limit my dexterity.
Bilt Storm 2 gloves are what I have for this time of the year. The water proofing does work. They're very attractively priced. You can't go wrong with those ones!
