Good spot. If you slip some shrink tube over the clamps it'll grip better without marring.Kept trying to mount the old tractor manual tube to the tusk rack on the GS. Not happy with it as it's too short to mount it to any locations I want it on. I'm going to get a PVC pipe, cut it to length, and mount it with big hose clamps. Don't feel like spending $50-100 on a box that may or may not fit with my specific bar locations. There's a cross bar that makes locating the cap difficult.
Makes sense to me. Thanks for the explanation! 👍🏻Monster Magnets, Magic Mirrors are a way to attach Spyder mirrors magnetically. Why? Because to do just about anything in depth on mine, (an RTS) the mirrors will come off. Furthermore, it does away with mirror shake and breakable parts. From my understanding, some European bikes use a similar scheme to attach parts, a pin and a wire spring. With factory components in place, mild violence is necessary to unseat the pins from the springs in the mirrors, which can and will lead to eventual breakage. We have all done it. First picture is the spring and pin system.
Next picture hopefully explains where the plastic plates were ,now replaced with steel.
On the bike side, magnets go where the pins were, and grab onto the steel plates on the mirrors.
Electrical connector is for the turn signal in the mirror housing. No move vibrating mirrors, much easer mirror removal and reattachment. Make sense so far? Good.

JimVonBaden - Any suggestions?Wrapped up the wiring job on the GS. Put it all back together and took it for a spin. Spit oil all over my left pant leg.
I had replaced the oil filler cap while it was on the lift. I had broken the "lower" part of it so I took the old lower, changed out the gasket, and used the new upper with the old lower. Anyway, that was worse than the original lower + upper oil filler cap that was on there. Spit a lot of oil out. Ordered a couple more replacement caps, and I'll be more careful putting the new one in. Wondering if there's a better design out there because I hate this one.
What year GS? There are a few good replacements out there. Also, make sure you carefully remove the mold flashing on the inside part before installing it.Wrapped up the wiring job on the GS. Put it all back together and took it for a spin. Spit oil all over my left pant leg.
